Glen Ellyn IL UMW Makes Birthing Packs for Panama

Glen Ellyn First UMC is sending church members March 2, 2012 on its 8th annual health mission to serve the Ngobe People of Panama.  This year the team will include a segment on home birth training for local health promoters.  

The women pictured, above and others have donated and assembled materials into "birthing kits".  These kits contain, receiving blankets, umbilical cord ties,  a rubber nasal suction, single edge razor blade and antibacterial soap.

A few kits will be used for demonstration during the learning session and the rest will be available to use for home births. Dr. Carol Meynen, an obstetrician/gynecologist from Trinity UMC, Wilmette, IL. will lead the training.
